Some champion has been pestering me to update my blog. And honestly, the inertia is just way to great. I knew I had been neglecting it, and the enormity of the task required to update it all the way from my last post was quite big.
Anyway, I saw that my last post was in Nov, so since then I've been on two incredible diving trips, the first being Christmas Island in Dec and the second being Manado in Jan. The first would be characterised by lots of sharks. Saw a couple of hammerhead sharks, bronze whaler sharks and my first ever whale shark. Can still remember each of those 3 encounters, the hammerheads swam right up, the bronze whalers nearly bit me and the whale shark encounter was a mini dive after a stint snorkelling with dolphins.
The Manado trip was focused more on small stuff. Saw plenty of cool stuff, but didn't manage to see my entire shopping list, I think I should go for a dedicated Lembeh Straits diving trip next, rather than splitting my time between Bunaken and Lembeh. There were plenty of nudibranchs, frogfish and scorpionfish. Some of the stuff I wanted to see but didn't included the mimic octopus, hairy frogfish, Rhinopias, etc. Anyway, it's an excuse to go back again I suppose.
Other than the diving trips, had a couple of BBQs at my place. Think the first was with my Cat High Scout friends, and the second was with the Bravo people. Much prefer these small BBQs as they allow for better interaction between people. My annual birthday BBQ is fun, but I don't get to interact as much.
Think that's about all I have to update for now, the rest of the time has been pretty boring. Also got some bad news yesterday as our allowance and bonus have been cut. A rough estimate will be that my annual salary this year will be cut by about 5%, assuming a moderate increment and no AVC in July and December. Guess all will become clearer later.
