Aftermath of ROC

Today is Christmas, quite an uneventful Christmas actually, didn't go out at all, except to go taka and buy the Christmas gifts which sister and Mai Da promised me. Got a book and a pair of shades, so quite happy with those purchases.

Shall talk about the last few weeks in reverse, booked out yesterday after 1 morning in camp visiting the survival village and after doing some fucked up area cleaning. Before that, we spent Tuesday to Thursday at the FIBUA village at Sarimbun doing Fibua. I must say it was the slackest field camp ever; we had loads of free time and the instructors where in a holiday mood so to speak. Slacked off quite a bit for this exercise too, died all the time, didn't manage to clear any rooms at all. The field camp was topped of with a live firing which was a waste of time as we went in only to shoot 4 rounds, and then we discovered that the doctrine just changed and what we learnt the 3 days before was wrong. Monday was a waste of time, but neccessary as we learnt all the theory about FIBUA then.

Anyhow, before that we had a long OIL for ROC training. Flew back on Thursday and had off till Sunday night book in. As such, was dissapointed when I saw the training schedule and realised that it entailed 3 days "outfield" after just 1 short day in camp. This coming week will be worse, 4 days in tekong. Have been civilianised after all that off and R&R in ROC.

ROC training wasn't too tough, saw lots of mountains and walked in them for my NAVEX. Had 1 ninja van encounter during Ex. Red Beret. We were a little over-confident and thought to finish it in 1 day but we only got back on the 2nd day morning. After all the navex, we had Homerun which was 5 continuous missions. Would have been quite tiring if not for all the nights we burnt beforehand doing OPs orders. Screwed up the mission in which I was SC but then we all did. At least when I was PC during Ex. Finale, the mission proceeded quite successfully. After all the missions ended, it was time for R&R. Before leaving the camp, we spent 1 afternoon at some underwater world thingy. Thereafter it was 1 night in Kaohsiung and 2 nights in Taipei for some well-deserved relaxation. Although I must say I didn't really enjoy myself much as I couldn't do the shopping I wanted to do. Ah well, at least I finished my X'mas shopping
