Just finished the first week of AIOC. Went cheong-suahing with the commandos on Thursday as they were the supporting troops for the Coy live firing. I must say the commandos are damm zai in their skill proficiency and IFC. And I wasn't the only one who thought so, in any case, I sent a nice sms to David after the live firing telling him how good his men were. It's quite a small SAF in any case when David's Coy was the one who was supporting us for the live firing.
The start of the week was rather boring, CEP lectures and forums on basic infantry skills. I definately am not contributing as much as I did back in the old syndicate 5. I suppose I'll take time to warm up to the new syndicate. In this new syndicate, there Guozhi and BT so those people I already know, plus Alan and Eugene are also in syndicate 3 with me. The old birds in syn 3 seem quite nice, but PK is enthusiastic it scares me. Went cheonging with Nien-han and Jer Hsuan last week so can chat with them too. We'll see what happens this coming week then.
Was walking past all the bunks on the second floor where the support arms people used to stay and I felt a pang of sadness. We've had lots of fun over the duration of CTC and the probability that we'll meet henceforth is quite small. It was definately brought home as I walked past the empty corridors with the names of all the people outside the door. Where there was once hustle and bustle is now quiet and empty. To all the friends I made in CTC, hope we'll meet again soon.
Nien-han was complaining why I didn't invite him to my BBQ last saturday and whether I felt guilt after the 2 cheonging sessions we had last week. I replied a flat no. Having done my annual BBQ for so many years, I've had to be selective in my invites, I can't possibly invite one person and have nobody around to entertain him, invites need to be in group level, so if I can't entertain that person, there will still be people around to entertain him. If syn 5 had come, then I would have opened up the invitations to more CTC people like him, but that did not materialise.
Also finally contacted Yiken after so long in SAFTI. He's in alpha wing and saw him that day whilst I was having my live firing. Think they were having some TEWT in the PLC area and I was on the tonner to the live firing area. Must say he's quite sharp to spot me in the tonner. Poor him, having to endure the entire OCS term of 38 weeks to commission.
