Have quite a few topics I want to blog about, but just haven had the time to do so. On a lighter note, the eating has been good these past couple of days. Met my mentor on Friday with Jackson and he gave us both a nice lunch. Then Saturday night went to the scuba genetic chalet and had BBQ there. The night was quite bad for my throat, alcohol and BBQ food are good precursors to sore throats. Been chatting quite a bit about food these days, we were talking about St Julien, Kazu, Iggys, etc. The IC gang all seem to be able to go for good food, or the junior girls especially. Tzelin was going on about how she wanted to try Iggys and I recommended her to try the foie gras there. Simply outstanding. My dinner tonight was also at a place we recently discussed. Had dinner at this zhi cha restaurant in AMK. The crab mee fen is outstanding. Could feel the cholesterol flowing down my throat with every drop of the soup.
Second point of note is that I'm playing tennis quite regularly these days. Once a week at least, but still have yet to play with the tennis fanatic John. An unintended side effect of all this tennis is that my right forearm is noticably bigger than my left. Not that I'm intending to do anything to equalise the difference.
Lastly, our department had a session with Director earlier this week, there Jaspreet asked what management was doing to correct the perception that scholars get all the opportunities and positions available. There wasn't any answer, but after that Eugene was commenting that scholars have their own set of problems. Whilst non-scholars complain about the disparity between scholars and non-scholars, scholars contend with MAs and non-MAs. I could go on much longer but I'd rather watch television now. Perhaps another day when I feel in the mood for an intellectual post.
