I felt that this would be an opportune time to discuss my last two years and my next two years - career wise at least. After all, I will be moving on to MOM in 2 weeks time and have about 1 1/2 weeks left here. On a plus side, I think I learnt a lot here, but on the other hand, I wonder if I made a bad choice in choosing PSD as my first choice.
As I was walking to the MRT after work today, chanced upon my colleague who told me that he was transferring to another agency. Apparently his boss told him to transfer over instead of being seconded over. I guess it's a sign of how valued he is to the organisation if they want the officer to leave and have all ties cut and also a lot about how the organisation views its staff. I really wonder what the resignation rate will be this year, notwithstanding the economic downturn.
I already know how I stand in PSD and I am definately happy to go. If I didn't have a posting coming out, I think I would take his route as well and apply for a transfer myself. When one deals with HR so much and know the system so well. One ultimately understands where one stands, and if one knows that the organisation does not think highly of oneself, why bother staying??? I mean PS can actually tell me she hopes that I remain in the CS after my 2nd stint in MOM.
At least my understanding of MOM so far is that it is a place where people are recognised. Hopefully I find my own niche there and here's to a good posting in MOM...
