MA/MX

Went for the PSD tea session earlier today, it was quite an interesting session. The PS and Directors seem to be nice people and it's quite a small ministry with only 240 people in it. There was this irritating scholar who decided to forego common courtesy and talk on his phone whilst PS was talking though. It was quite obvious when PS increased her volume to drown out his voice. I mean she's the Perm Sec after all, and it's PSD or the posting ministry, her minstry decides our fate (of sorts). Later found out the scholar was from Caltech. Perhaps he thought that being from such a small and exclusive university gives him the right to behave with an utter lack of respect and courtesy.

Anyway, enough about him, am giving some though to joining PSD, seems lke a nice place to work, shall spend some time later reviewing my job choices. PS(PSD) was giving us scholars some advice when she said we should all mange our expectations of joining the civil service, we should not think we can change the world upon starting work. To that end, Mark, De'en and I came up with two new definitions for MA and MX. Henceforth, we shall all Manage Aspirations if we're MAs and Manage Expectations if we go under the MX scheme. After all, aspirations does sound better than expectations though essentially they do the same thing, must show the difference in class between the two schemes.
