Spent the whole of yesterday in Pulau Ubin, Matt was having a platoon outing and invited me along, after all, I'd be taking over his platoon soon. We were supposed to meet at 8am and as usual, nobody was on time, I was the first to arrive at 8 having taken a cab from home. The men only started appearing at 8:15 and Weijie only appeared after 8:30am. We only reached Ubin at 11am after picking up all the stragglers. Matt was waiting for us at the pier and showed us the chalet. It has been 4 years since I was last on the island and it has changed quite a bit. Spent the entire day cycling around the area and just relaxing. Never knew cycling could be so tiring, cycled until my legs all nuah already. Also managed to holland on the island, wanted to go to Mamam beach but instead ended up at Noordin beach. My memory of the place has failed me... Anyway, after cycling, went to relax at the chalet and chat with some of the men. At least know a few more of the PL7 men now compared to Wednesday when I first returned to camp after the enjoyable break at SAFTI.
Being back in camp for 3 days and already arrows have started to fly. 2 confirmed arrows that have hit are conducting a FIBUA package and understudying for CO conf on monday. Understudying just means the next CO conf will be me taking the minutes. 1 unconfirmed arrow is that I'll be the ensign for the Bde COC parade. Just hope that doesn't materialise. Other than recieving those arrows, there hasn't been much to do in camp. Did recieve some news that I'll be going overseas as ATEC observer come February, sounds interesting but that'll mean De'en be all alone in Coy line, so wondering if I should be nice and stay back else he'll be OC, 2IC, and PC 7,8,9. Anyway, the entire Coy booked out early on Friday as there was nothing on the training programme, having compressed the Friday activities to Thursday afternoon. Even then, we were the last to book out at 3pm, the other Coys booking out immediately after lunch.
There'll be 1 outfield this coming week, hope it doesn't get too strenous, I so hate going outfield. In any case, know quite a number of the people coming down either as controllers or enemy. The Bde people are coming down, so will get to see Alan, Eric, Chenyu, etc, in addition, Jer Hsuan is enemy 2IC, so hopefully can meet him during the exercise.
